Peter Obi Attends Service for Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour's Mother

On Tuesday, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), attended a Service of Songs in Lagos to honor Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour, the late mother of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial candidate. Obi's presence came weeks after the announcement of her passing and followed criticism from some supporters who felt he had not publicly acknowledged the bereavement.

During the service, Obi paid tribute to the deceased, urging attendees to live upright lives and reflecting on the loss of good individuals. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour described his mother as a loving wife and devoted mother, expressing gratitude for her life.

Following her death, condolences poured in from various politicians and supporters. Obi and Rhodes-Vivour were key figures in the Labour Party's campaign during the 2023 elections, with Obi winning the presidential election in Lagos and Rhodes-Vivour finishing second in the gubernatorial race.

Since then, both have pursued different political paths ahead of the 2027 elections.
