Wike's Faction Holds First NEC Meeting After Unsealing

The Nyesom Wike-backed faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) convened its first National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at Wadata Plaza in Abuja on Monday, following the police's recent unsealing of the party's secretariat. This event was captured in a video shared by Wike's media aide, Lere Olayinka.

The secretariat had been sealed since November of the previous year due to a violent clash involving factions led by Tanimu Turaki and Abdulrahman Moham. The Wike faction claims that the leadership appeal court judgment from March is invalid.

The meeting was expected to include members aligned with the Moham-led faction, such as former Senate President Bukola Saraki and former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu. The Turaki-led National Working Committee accused the police of enabling an unlawful takeover of the secretariat, alleging that the actions were politically motivated.

The faction expressed dissatisfaction with the police's partisanship and described the situation as shameful.
