Delta Youths Protest Police Killing of Musician OG Millan

On Wednesday, April 26, 2026, youths in Effurun, Delta State, blocked the Ekpan police station in protest against the extrajudicial killing of 28-year-old musician Oghenemin Ogidi, popularly known as OG Millan. The incident occurred when police officers, responding to intelligence, apprehended Ogidi for allegedly attempting to carry a parcel containing a Beretta pistol and four rounds of ammunition.

A video showed Ogidi pleading for his life before ASP Nuhu Usman discharged his firearm, resulting in Ogidi's death. This event sparked outrage among residents, leading to the protest.

The Delta State Police Command condemned the incident and announced that ASP Nuhu Usman would be transferred to the state headquarters in Asaba for disciplinary action. The police spokesperson, Bright Edaf, stated that the command struggled to understand the officer's actions, which were deemed unprofessional and violent.

Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu visited Ogidi's mother, who expressed her grief over the loss of her son.
