Woman Injured in Oyo During Kidnapping Attempt

On April 2, a 20-year-old woman identified as Bless was injured by stray bullets during a kidnapping attempt in Oyo. The incident occurred when a suspected cultist attempted to attack a young man at a laundry shop.

As the assailants opened fire, Bless, who had just returned from church, was struck by a bullet. Sources familiar with the incident reported that the intended target managed to flee, prompting the gunmen to shoot in his direction.

Bless was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment. Musa Muham, the spokesperson for the Bayelsa State Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are ongoing.

This incident highlights ongoing security concerns related to cult activities in the region, as it follows a previous incident in February 2025, where another woman was killed during a cult clash in Yenagoa.
