Villagers in Sokoto Kill Three Bandits During Attack

In a recent incident in Sokoto, Nigeria, villagers successfully gunned down three bandits who attempted to invade their community. The attack occurred on the outskirts of the village, where the bandits reportedly hid near a cemetery and attempted to launch an assault.

Local vigilante members engaged the bandits in a gun duel, resulting in the deaths of the three bandits. However, the confrontation also led to the loss of two vigilante members, identified as Umar Ibrahim and Abubakar Abdullahi.

Following the attack, the vigilantes pursued the fleeing bandits, who abandoned their motorcycle to escape detection. The incident caused panic among residents, prompting them to flee the village.

Community leaders, including the village head, intervened to calm the situation and urged residents to remain in the village. They lamented the frequent attacks and called on the state and federal government to deploy security personnel to address the persistent threat of banditry, especially as attacks have increased with the onset of Ramadan.

The Sokoto State Police Command, represented by DSP Ahmad Rufai, confirmed awareness of the attack and the casualties involved.
