Bandit Attack in Sokoto Kills Three, Injures Four

A late-night attack by suspected bandits on Gorau Community in Goronyo Local Government Area, Sokoto State, resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to four others. The incident occurred around midnight on a Monday, with the assailants reportedly using sophisticated weapons and engaging in random shooting.

Multiple sources within the community indicated that several residents were abducted during the attack, although the exact number remains unclear. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The chairman of Goronyo Local Government Area, Hon. Zubairu Yari, confirmed the attack and expressed concern over the recent surge in violence in the area, which has seen similar incidents, marking this as the 12th attack on the community.

Alhaji Aliyu Magaji, the village head, noted that the community had previously adopted security measures, but these were insufficient against the firepower of the attackers. The motive behind the attack is believed to be economic, as the community recently recorded a bumper harvest.
