Bandits Kill Five, Abduct 22 in Sokoto Attacks

In a series of midnight attacks on Sokoto communities, bandits killed five people and abducted 22 others in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area. The attacks occurred around 11 PM on Tuesday and Wednesday, targeting Sabon Birni town, Dan Aduwa, and Kwaren Gamba.

Gunmen stormed the Sabon Hegi quarter, shooting indiscriminately and causing panic among residents. Among the deceased were Abba Sani and Bala Mai Laya.

The abducted included a visually impaired man and two bridesmaids, who were taken while traveling to Moriki in Zamfara State. The victims were in a bus when they were attacked.

Reports indicate that five others were injured and are currently receiving treatment at a general hospital in Sabon Birni. Security forces arrived approximately 20 minutes after the attack, but the bandits had already fled.

Aminu Boza, a member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, confirmed the attacks, while DSP Ahmad Rufai, spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, stated that details were still being gathered.
