Shettima Commissions NELMCO Office, Urges Power Sector Reform

On Thursday, Vice President Kashim Shettima commissioned the new head office of the Nigerian Electricity Liability Management Company (NELMCO) located in Asokoro District, Abuja. During the event, he charged the firm to restore confidence in Nigeria's electricity supply, highlighting that the country cannot gamble with energy security.

Shettima underscored the need for data-driven decision-making and the use of technology in asset management, advocating for stronger partnerships with local and international stakeholders. He reiterated the administration's commitment to reforming and strengthening the power sector, stating that NELMCO plays a crucial role in maintaining the credibility of the sector.

The Vice President noted that the Tinubu administration is focused on transforming the power sector through various initiatives, including the establishment of the Grid Asset Management Company (GAMCO) to address critical issues. He called for collaboration with the private sector and the international community to invest in Nigeria's power sector and create a transparent, investor-friendly environment.
