Shettima Advocates National Peace Covenant in Jos

On Saturday, during the 80th birthday anniversary and public presentation of the autobiography of former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang in Jos, Vice President Kashim Shettima urged for a renewed national covenant on peace. He stated that peace is a collective responsibility involving the government, community leaders, and citizens.

Shettima conveyed President Bola Tinubu's goodwill to Jang and reaffirmed the administration's commitment to a secure Nigeria that fosters economic opportunities. He called on Nigerians to reject ethnic profiling, religious hatred, misinformation, and retaliatory violence to build a secure and prosperous federation.

Shettima highlighted that sustainable development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity, linking the economic fortunes of communities to peace. He condemned the association of individual criminal acts with entire communities and praised Plateau State's resilience in the face of violence.

Additionally, he announced the appointment of Yakubu Jang as a Senior Special Assistant to the President.
