Shettima Urges Plateau Youth to Embrace Peace and Forgiveness

On Saturday, Vice President Kashim Shettima addressed residents of Plateau State during the 80th birthday celebration and public presentation of the autobiography of former Governor Jonah David Jang in Jos. Shettima urged the youth to reject ethnic profiling and inherited bitterness, stating that those responsible for violent attacks do not represent any community, religion, or ethnicity.

He expressed concern that many young people carry burdens from conflicts they did not initiate and called on elders to guide the youth towards forgiveness. Shettima quoted Mahatma Gandhi, emphasizing that forgiveness is a strength.

He cautioned against blaming entire ethnic or religious groups for the actions of criminals, stating that such actions deepen divisions. He lamented the impact of violence on communities in Plateau, which has turned fertile lands into mourning places.

Shettima praised Jang for his service and urged Nigerians to unite in building a peaceful country.
