WAEC Extends 2026 GCE Registration Deadline to August 28
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced an extension of the registration deadline for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for Private Candidates, Second Series (WAEC GCE). The new deadline is set for Friday, August 28, 2026, replacing the previous deadline of July 31, 2026.
This extension provides prospective candidates additional time to complete their registration. The 2026 Second Series examination will be conducted entirely as a Computer-Based Examination and is aimed at individuals not enrolled in regular secondary schools who need an O’Level qualification or wish to improve their grades.
The registration fee remains N37,000. WAEC has advised candidates to ensure the accuracy of their information during registration and to confirm available examination towns at the nearest WAEC office.
The examination is scheduled to take place between September and October 2026, following the commencement of registration on May 4, 2026.
