Plumptre Disappointed by Super Falcons WAFCON Omission

Ashleigh Plumptre, a defender for the Super Falcons, expressed her disappointment regarding her omission from the 25-player squad announced by head coach Justin Madugu for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Plumptre, who plays for Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, sustained a foot injury during a match but is currently recuperating.

She took to social media to express her sadness about missing the tournament while also showing support for her teammates. Plumptre stated, "I’m sad to miss WAFCON yet hope to get the chance to fight alongside the women again." She emphasized her commitment to supporting Nigerian women’s football as they pursue victory in the upcoming competition.

Plumptre previously made her WAFCON debut in 2022, contributing to the Super Falcons' success in winning the WAFCON 2024 title.
