WAFU B to Release 2026 Football Event Calendar Soon

Ibrahim Gusau, the president of the West Africa Football Union Zone B (WAFU B) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), announced that the region will soon release its football event calendar for 2026. This announcement comes as preparations are underway for various competitions, including the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, which is set to take place in Morocco from April 25 to May 15, 2026.

This tournament will serve as Africa's qualifying event for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Additionally, it was noted that Nigeria will not participate in the 2026 U-17 AFCON, having failed to secure qualification from the region.

The calendar will also cover events for both boys and girls within the WAFU B zone, highlighting the busy period for youth football across the continent. The next edition of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations is scheduled for 2027, following a biennial format, with the most recent edition held in Egypt from April 27 to May 18, 2025.
