Flying Eagles Coach Warns Against Underestimating Togo

Abdu Maikaba, the head coach of the Flying Eagles, has directed his focus towards the team’s upcoming second Group B fixture against Togo in the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship. The Flying Eagles, who are the defending champions, commenced their title defense with a 4-2 victory over the Black Satellites of Ghana on Monday, with Muiz Adeleke scoring twice, alongside goals from Olayemi Ayinla and Oraro Isaac.

As they prepare to face Togo, who lost 3-1 to Burkina Faso in their opening match, Maikaba stresses the need for caution, stating that Togo should not be underestimated. He described the match as significant, highlighting the rivalry between Nigeria and Togo.

Maikaba stated, “We have to put our heads down, plan very well for Togo, make sure we get the second win that will qualify us to the semi-final,” underlining the importance of securing a win to advance in the tournament.
