Flying Eagles Arrive in Abidjan for WAFU B U-20 Title Defense

The Flying Eagles, the defending champions, have officially arrived in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, to participate in the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship. The team departed from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Monday morning and will continue their journey to Yamoussoukro, the host city for the tournament.

Under the guidance of coach Abdu Maikaba, the Flying Eagles will begin their title defense with a high-profile match against their arch-rivals, Ghana's Black Satellites, on July 27. Following this, they will compete against Togo's Junior Sparrow Hawks on July 30 and conclude their Group B campaign against Burkina Faso's Young Stallions on August 2.

The 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship serves as a qualifying tournament for the 2027 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, with the top-performing teams earning a place in the continental finals. The Flying Eagles have won the last two editions of this tournament.
