Cole Urges Patience for Tinubu's Economic Reforms Impact

Tony Cole, a former governorship candidate and APC chieftain, addressed concerns regarding the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Speaking on a television program, Cole advised Nigerians to wait 2-3 years to fully experience the tangible benefits of these reforms, which include the removal of fuel subsidies and adjustments in foreign exchange and taxation.

He acknowledged the current economic hardships and inflation but expressed optimism about Nigeria's long-term prospects, citing improved investor confidence. Cole highlighted the necessity for deliberate interventions to ensure that economic gains reach a broader population of Nigeria's 200 million citizens.

He also commented on the political landscape in Rivers State, describing it as uncertain under Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who faces challenges in demonstrating strong leadership. Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Cole noted that voters in Rivers State are increasingly receptive to political change and reaffirmed his commitment to the APC's ongoing internal party engagement.
