Presidency Confirms Resignations of Edun and Dangiwa

The Nigerian Presidency issued a clarification stating that former Finance Minister Wale Edun and Minister of Housing Musa Dangiwa were not sacked but had submitted their resignations. Edun, who is set to turn 70 on Monday, cited health reasons for his resignation, which was announced on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, a special adviser to President Bola Tinubu.

In his resignation letter, Edun expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve Nigeria. Dangiwa, who previously served as the Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank from 2015 to 2022 and was appointed as Housing Minister in August 2023, also resigned, thanking President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve on the Federal Executive Council.

The Presidency emphasized the need for the new Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyeleke, to consolidate ongoing reforms and advance the administration's fiscal and economic objectives. President Tinubu is expected to send ministerial nominees to the House for confirmation shortly.
