Tinubu Appoints Taiwo Oyedele as New Finance Minister

President Bola Tinubu has officially appointed Taiwo Oyedele as the new Finance Minister of Nigeria, succeeding Wale Edun, who has departed from the Federal Executive Council. The announcement was made through a statement issued by Yomi Odunuga, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

Wale Edun's exit coincides with his 70th birthday on April 20, 2026. The reshuffle, which also includes Ahmad Musa Dangiwa leaving his position, was approved by President Tinubu as part of a minor cabinet restructuring aimed at strengthening the cohesion and synergy within the government to enhance the impact of economic delivery under the Nigerian Renewed Hope Agenda.

The President's authority to execute this reshuffle is conferred by Sections 147 and 148 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended). The President expressed appreciation for Edun's service to the nation and wished him well in future endeavors.
