Baba Malam Wali Wins APC Governorship Primary in Yobe

Baba Malam Wali has been declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Yobe State after winning the primary election held at the banquet hall of the Government House in Damaturu. The results were announced by Engr Muttaqah Rabe Darma, the chairman of the APC governorship primary election committee.

Wali secured 236,711 votes, defeating several aspirants, including Dr. Abubakar Bukar Kagu, who received 9,748 votes, and Hon.

Bashir Sheriff Machina, who garnered 1,894 votes. Other candidates included Engr Mustapha Yunusa Maihaja with 1,178 votes, Darma Ad Hamidu Alhaji Muhammad with 1,722 votes, Inusa Muhammad with 1,148 votes, and Ma Aji Modu with 1,371 votes.

Wali, who hails from Nguru Local Government Area in the Yobe North Senatorial District, was previously recognized as a consensus candidate following a stakeholders' meeting. Born in 1958, he has a background in public service and has held various significant roles, including serving as the principal secretary to the military governor of Borno State.
