WARDC and Co-Impact Launch Initiative for Women in Law

The Women's Advocacy Research and Development Centre (WARDC) and Co-Impact are initiating a project to promote inclusivity in law faculties across Nigeria. This collaboration involves 12 law faculties from six geopolitical zones, aiming to produce a framework that facilitates women's ascension to leadership positions within Nigeria's legal academic system.

During a preliminary session in Lagos, WARDC's Board Chair, Prof. Jumai Audi, stated that the research will culminate in a report aimed at breaking barriers for women in law faculties.

Prof. Abiola Sanni, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Lagos, emphasized the need for intentional design and sustained commitment to ensure the framework's effectiveness.

The project seeks to empower female academicians and address the challenges they face in advancing their careers, as highlighted by Prof. Abdulqadir Abikan and Prof.

John Akintayo, who noted the significant obstacles women encounter in law academia.
