World Bank Sets Deadline for Nigerian States to Publish Health and Education Contracts

The World Bank has mandated Nigerian states to disclose health and education contract details within 30 days to boost transparency in public procurement. The Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning directed state governments to publish contract award information for basic education and primary healthcare procurement.

Assad Hassan, a key figure in the program, emphasized the importance of compliance with the disclosure requirements to receive incentive funds. The states are required to publish contract award information, including project names, award institutions, contractor names, contract amounts, and more on their official websites.

This move is part of efforts to strengthen governance and service delivery in the education and healthcare sectors. The initiative also involves measures like financial performance audits and biometric verification to eliminate ghost workers and enhance payroll integrity.
