Umahi Affirms Ministry's Openness to Scrutiny Amid Criticism

David Umahi, the Minister, addressed journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, asserting that his ministry is open to scrutiny amid recent criticisms and protests against its operations. He highlighted that the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) has already concluded part of its investigation into the ministry, while the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is expected to commence its review soon.

Umahi emphasized the ministry's commitment to transparency, stating that every expenditure is accounted for, particularly in the context of road construction projects aimed at improving infrastructure. He defended the decision to use asphalt and concrete for road building, claiming it ensures durability with minimal maintenance over a century.

Despite the criticisms, Umahi urged journalists to focus on accurate reporting and warned against spreading unverified information. He reassured the public that the ministry is dedicated to delivering projects that will enhance the lives of Nigerians and is not hiding any information regarding its operations.
