ADC Urges Police Action Against Attacks on Members

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) issued a warning regarding the increasing attacks and intimidation faced by its members, stating that the opposition is nearing its limits of restraint. At a press conference in Abuja, ADC spokesman Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi emphasized the need for security agencies to enforce existing laws to ensure political participation without fear of violence.

He documented incidents of attacks on political meetings and threats against citizens from July 2025 to September 2026, occurring in states such as Kaduna, Kebbi, Ekiti, Cross River, Rivers, Edo, Osun, Kogi, and Enugu. Abdullahi cited a specific attack on the ADC secretariat in Benin City, Edo State, and reported gunfire at the residence of Chief John Odigie Oyegun during a political gathering.

He expressed concern over the lack of police action following these incidents, including the recent killing of an ADC member in Rivers State. Abdullahi called for thorough investigations into these attacks, which he claimed involved both private individuals and security personnel.
