Nigerian Army Discovers Improvised Explosive Devices in Abia Forest

The Nigerian Army's 14 Brigade, led by Captain Mazinho Attah, uncovered improvised explosive devices in Abia State's forest during a clearance operation on February 8, 2026. The explosives, two local fabric improvised explosive devices utilizing 5kg gas cylinders, nails, water gel explosives, and two detonating electrical cables, were discovered along the Umuchima pipeline route.

This discovery was made public through a press release by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 14 Brigade. The operation was part of intensified efforts to combat criminal activities, particularly those linked to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
