DHQ Denies Arming Boko Haram Terrorists in Nigeria

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) of Nigeria has issued a statement clarifying that allegations from a viral video claiming that repentant Boko Haram terrorists are being armed to fight alongside the Nigerian military are false and misleading. Brigadier General Yusuf Ali explained that the operations under the Safe Corridor initiative are conducted independently at the state level and are not recognized as part of the DHQ-led framework.

The DHQ emphasized that the video in question does not depict an official Safe Corridor facility and highlighted inconsistencies in the video's content. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, commended President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to ending insecurity in the country during the opening ceremony of the first Senior Command Leadership Seminar 2026 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The DHQ reiterated that the Safe Corridor initiative is a non-kinetic, multi-agency program designed for the de-radicalization, rehabilitation, and reintegration of individuals.
