Boko Haram Claims 176 Abductees in Kwara State Video

In a recent video, Boko Haram, formerly known as Jama'atu Ahlis Sunnah Lidda'awati Wal Jihad, claims to have 176 abductees from Kwara State in their custody. This alarming revelation has raised significant security concerns in the region.

The Kwara State government, led by Bolanle Olukoju, is actively collaborating with security agencies to assess the situation after the release of the video, which depicts numerous women and children allegedly taken from Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area. The video shows armed men surrounding captives, including a nursing mother and several minors, who appear visibly distressed.

The attack occurred on February 4, 2026, during which several residents were killed, including family members of local leaders. The state government has reported that between 20 to 30 individuals were kidnapped, while the terrorist group maintains the number at 176.

Local authorities are working to identify the individuals shown in the footage and ensure the safe return of all affected citizens.
