ITF Launches Training Program to Boost Local Artisans

The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has initiated an eight-week training program aimed at reducing Nigeria's dependence on foreign artisans and enhancing domestic technical skills. This program, which commenced in Abuja on Monday, involves 100 selected artisans and trainers and includes trainers from the United Kingdom.

Dr Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the ITF, stated that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to develop local artisans and technicians to meet international standards. The training will equip participants with essential technical, teaching, and assessment skills, enabling them to train others and assess workers in various Nigerian industries.

Participants will receive three internationally recognized qualifications: Trade Level 3 certification, teaching and training certification, and assessor certification. Ogun emphasized that the program aims to provide quality training rather than merely issuing certificates, with examinations scheduled at the end to ensure the integrity of the qualifications.
