ITF Launches Artisan Screening to Boost Skilled Workforce

The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has initiated a nationwide screening exercise for artisans to enhance Nigeria's skilled workforce and reduce reliance on foreign artisans. This process, announced in a statement from Abuja by Director of Press and Public Relations Thomas Ngor, aims to produce globally competitive craftsmen and technicians.

The screening will occur in two phases across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The northern zones will be screened from July 14 to July 17, 2026, while the southern zones will be screened from July 21 to July 24, 2026.

ITF Director General Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun stated that the program is designed to address the skills gap in Nigeria's artisan sector and equip local craftsmen with contemporary technical skills. The initiative is part of a broader effort to expose artisans to modern technology and international standards, ultimately increasing employment opportunities in the local artisan sector.
