NUPRC Calls for Human Capital Development in Oil Sector

Oritsemeyewa Eyesan, the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), stressed the necessity of aligning industry growth with human capital development during a courtesy visit from the Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG) delegation, led by Chairman Adegbit Falad, at NUPRC headquarters in Abuja. Eyesan noted the significance of the IPPG in the industry, especially following the divestment of international oil companies.

She emphasized the importance of adhering to the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021 and highlighted the critical role of human capital development and strong corporate governance in enhancing the industry’s competitiveness in the global market. Eyesan urged the IPPG to maintain high standards akin to their foreign counterparts.

Additionally, she announced that NUPRC has transitioned to a paperless operation as part of its commitment to digital transformation, effective from April 18, 2026. Falad commended Eyesan's leadership, noting the positive changes since she assumed office in December 2025.
