Governor Lawal Critiques Security Agencies Over Inaction

Governor Lawal of Zamfara State has publicly criticized security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Police, for their inaction regarding intelligence on bandit movements. In an interview with Vanguard, he disclosed that the state government utilizes drone technology to track the movements of terrorists and relays this information to security forces, which he claims often ignore it.

Lawal expressed frustration over the failure of these agencies to act on urgent intelligence, allowing attacks to persist in the state. He also mentioned that terrorists live among the people while security forces refuse to engage, indicating a larger issue of insecurity in Zamfara and neighboring Kaduna State.

Furthermore, he briefed President Bola Tinubu on the situation, insisting that the portrayal of insecurity in Zamfara at the federal level is inaccurate. Despite these challenges, Lawal's administration continues to implement measures to improve the situation, warning that the failure of security agencies to prioritize intelligence undermines efforts to restore peace.
