PDP Vows to Field Presidential Candidate for 2027 Elections

The Nyesom Wike-backed faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has committed to fielding a presidential candidate for the upcoming 2027 elections. This announcement comes amid concerns regarding the party's financial capabilities to support a presidential campaign.

In a recent television interview, Jungudo Haruna, the national public secretary of the PDP, addressed rumors about the party's absence of a presidential candidate, asserting that these claims are unfounded. He indicated that the party's national executive committee would convene on Monday to discuss various issues, including the allocation of zones for candidacy.

Haruna also responded to inquiries about the party's stance in relation to the current national leadership and its support for President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing the need for clarity on the party's position moving forward.
