Wike-backed PDP Faction Prepares for Presidential Primary

The faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) backed by Nyesom Wike has announced its readiness for the upcoming presidential primary. This faction, led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, has expressed interest in the presidential nomination form, which costs N51 million for the 2027 elections.

The PDP has been embroiled in a leadership crisis since last year, resulting in the emergence of two factions. The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party approved the nomination form fee of N1,000,000 and an additional N50,000,000 for party chieftains.

The faction held a meeting on Monday at the party's national headquarters in Abuja. The primary elections are set to commence and will conclude on May 29.

Despite the internal divisions, the FCT Minister and national leader of the PDP faction declared intent to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as stated by Jungudo Haruna, the party's public secretary.
