Former NHIS Boss Questions Peter Obi's Record in North

Usman Yusuf, the former Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Health Insurance Scheme, has pledged to closely examine Peter Obi's past record concerning Northern Nigeria, particularly during Obi's time as Governor of Anambra State. Yusuf's statements were made during an interview with Trust TV, amid political developments linking Obi to a potential presidential or vice-presidential ticket for the 2027 elections.

Yusuf contends that Obi's past actions, especially allegations surrounding the treatment of Northerners during his governorship, are difficult to overlook. He criticized Obi's frequent references to Asian economic models and questioned his understanding of the realities in Northern Nigeria.

Yusuf also mentioned that during Obi's tenure, reports emerged about destitute individuals relocating to the state, which he claims were denied by Obi, who maintained that the actions taken were purely for administrative security reasons.
