Plateau Governor Mutfwang Rejects Negotiation with Bandits

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State stated that his administration will not engage in negotiations with bandits and terrorists. During the state’s Democracy Day celebration on June 2, 2023, Mutfwang affirmed the government's commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.

He emphasized that the administration would engage citizens through lawful democratic channels rather than surrendering to violence. Mutfwang addressed an audience that included Deputy Governor Josephin Piyo and various stakeholders, reiterating the government's resolve to respond swiftly to recent security challenges, particularly in southern Plateau.

He mentioned the establishment of a security council and the approval for the recruitment of security personnel to enhance safety measures. Mutfwang also highlighted the need for community vigilance and the use of technology to report suspicious activities, while blaming enemies for the ongoing insecurity that perpetuates poverty in the state.
