Nnewi Lawmaker Defends Traditional Ruler's Authority

Hon. Onyekachukwu Augustin Ik, a representative from Nnewi North Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, stated that the people of Nnewi will not accept any form of disrespect towards their traditional ruler, HRH Igwe Dr. Kon Orizu III. He addressed concerns regarding the upcoming local government chairmanship election, particularly the disqualification of the Nnewichi community's candidate.

Ik emphasized that the traditional ruler's position is paramount and that any rebellion against this authority is unacceptable. He noted that the Nnewichi community had previously written a counter letter to Governor Charles Soludo regarding the election, claiming that the traditional ruler's earlier correspondence misled the governor.

Ik asserted that the Nnewichi community should not undermine the authority of the traditional ruler and that the existing agreement for a single term rotation among the four communities in Nnewi must be respected. He criticized the current chairman, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, for allegedly working against community interests.
