NSE Calls for Engineers' Solutions to Nigeria's Insecurity

On March 1, 2023, during a webinar organized by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) to commemorate World Engineering Day, President Ali Rabiu called on engineers across Nigeria to utilize their technical expertise to support government efforts in tackling the persistent insecurity in the country. He emphasized the importance of adopting smart engineering solutions to accelerate Nigeria's development, highlighting the need for advanced technology and innovative design approaches.

Rabiu noted that addressing insecurity is crucial for enhancing trade relations and attracting foreign investment, as safety conditions significantly influence Nigeria's global investment ranking. He warned that without urgent intervention, safety deficits would continue to undermine GDP growth and job creation.

The webinar featured discussions on how engineering can provide practical solutions to the challenges of insecurity, with contributions from various experts, including Dr. Ben Okoh and Prof. Hilari Owamah, who stressed the importance of embracing smart engineering and intelligent systems.
