NSE President Calls for Holistic Solutions in Power Sector

During a webinar organized by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), President Ali Alimasuya Rabiu addressed the pressing challenges in Nigeria's power sector, advocating for a holistic approach that includes innovation and collaborative visionary leadership. Rabiu noted that the decline in the power sector is attributed to long-standing political interference and complex issues encompassing policy formulation and investment.

He emphasized that addressing these challenges requires a comprehensive strategy that considers socio-economic dynamics and geopolitical realities. Guest speaker Dr.

Meyen Etukudo, a special advisor to the Akwa Ibom governor on energy, pointed out the heavy reliance on thermal generation, which leads to environmental degradation and health challenges. He advocated for increased investment in renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydropower to reduce dependence on thermal generation.

The webinar aimed to foster meaningful discourse and strengthen the role of engineers in national development, highlighting the need for proactive involvement in policy advisory and project management.
