Wike: PDP Zones 2027 Presidential Ticket to South

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, disclosed that the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has resolved to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the southern region. This decision is part of a broader arrangement to balance power within the party ahead of the next general elections.

Wike made these remarks on Friday night in Abuja while addressing journalists during an inspection of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, which is set to host the party's national convention on March 29-30. He emphasized that the PDP has already allocated key positions across the country to reflect fair inclusion and that the party is prepared for the upcoming race.

Wike noted that the convention is nearly complete, with 95 percent readiness, and expects around 2,500 delegates to attend. He acknowledged existing disagreements within the party but insisted they would not disrupt the convention, highlighting the leadership's commitment to dialogue and compromise to ensure unity.

Wike expressed strong optimism about the PDP's chances in the 2027 elections, promising that the party would surprise Nigerians.
