Afenifere Condemns Terrorist Attacks on Oyo Schools

Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, expressed horror over the terrorist invasion of schools in Oyo State, specifically in Oriir Local Government Area. The attacks occurred on Friday, resulting in the abduction of no fewer than 45 students from Baptist Nursery Primary School, Yawota Community Grammar School, and Esinel Primary School.

Afenifere's spokesperson, Jare Ajayi, and the organization's leader, Reuben Fasoranti, expressed their dismay and sympathy for the victims' families. They emphasized the urgent need for the state government to address the escalating security crisis, which has left citizens feeling threatened.

Ajayi highlighted that the recent attacks reinforce fears that terrorists are determined to overrun the southwestern region of Nigeria. He called on the six governors of the region to prioritize security and take necessary steps to prevent further kidnappings and attacks, asserting that the welfare of the people is a constitutional responsibility of the government.
