Fintiri Defects to APC to Strengthen Party for 2027 Elections

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State stated that his defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is intended to strengthen the party rather than dislodge its existing members. During a stakeholders' meeting held on Monday in Yola, Fintiri emphasized the importance of unity and loyalty within the party as they prepare for the 2027 general elections.

He called on former PDP members to integrate into the APC and adhere to party discipline. Fintiri praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts in national security and urged APC members to warmly welcome new entrants.

Comrade Mustafa Salihu, the APC zonal vice chairman for the North East, commended Fintiri's move, highlighting its significance for the political landscape in Adamawa State. The governor's actions are part of a broader strategy to consolidate political structures and ensure a strong showing for the APC in the upcoming elections.
