BOAD Opens New Office in Dakar to Boost Regional Development

The West African Development Bank (BOAD) inaugurated its new premises in Dakar, Senegal, as part of its strategy to enhance its integration within the Senegalese economy and the UEMOA region. The inauguration ceremony attracted leaders from both public and private sectors, as well as representatives from the financial sector.

BOAD President Serg Eku described the new office as a symbol of the bank's commitment to regional development and emphasized the importance of expanding partnerships with the Senegalese private sector. The new premises reflect the bank's approach to promoting economic growth in member countries.

Eku reiterated the bank's focus on addressing infrastructure, energy, social housing deficits, and challenges related to health and digital technology. The bank's primary mission is to improve the living conditions of people in the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU).

The new strategic plan for 2026-2030 aims to allocate 6.5 trillion CFA francs for financing, nearly doubling previous programs, amidst a context of dwindling financial resources and geopolitical tensions.
