West Bromwich Albion has received a two-point deduction from an independent panel for breaching the English Football League (EFL) financial rules, specifically exceeding the £39 million loss limit across three seasons. Following a two-day hearing, the panel concluded that the club's financial losses warranted this sanction.

As a result, West Brom now sits 18th in the Championship table with 50 points, just six points above the relegation zone, with two matches remaining in the season. They are set to face Ipswich Town, who are in the promotion chase, and have already been relegated Sheffield Wednesday.

The club has lodged an appeal against the verdict, asserting their belief that they complied with the rules. This deduction makes West Brom the third club in the second tier to face sanctions this season, following Sheffield Wednesday's earlier point deduction.
