Ben White Receives First England Call-Up Since 2022

Ben White has been called up to the England national team for the first time since 2022, as announced by coach Gareth Southgate. The 27-year-old defender, who plays for Arsenal, was not included in the squad during the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar.

His selection comes ahead of friendly matches against Uruguay on March 27 and Japan on March 31, 2023, at Wembley. White had not played for England since a friendly match against Ivory Coast in March 2022.

He replaces Jarel Quansah due to an injury sustained by Thomas Tuchel's Bayer Leverkusen defender. This season, White has made seven appearances in the Premier League and played in eight out of ten Champions League games, leading Arsenal in the league.

Notably, Trent Alexander-Arnold was overlooked for this England squad, marking a significant decision in Southgate's selections.
