Peter Obi Questions DBN's N1 Trillion Empowerment Claim, Calls for Transparency

Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party's 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, questions the Development Bank of Nigeria's (DBN) claim of disbursing N1 trillion to empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Obi raised concerns about the actual beneficiaries, suggesting that only about N1 billion might have been disbursed instead of the claimed N1 trillion since 2015.

DBN's Managing Director, Tony Okpanachi, stated that 62% of the funds benefited women to improve their access to finance. Obi emphasized the need for transparency, urging DBN to disclose the actual disbursement figures to support millions of small businesses and create job opportunities for Nigerians.
