WHO Traces Contacts of Hantavirus-Infected Passenger

The World Health Organization (WHO) is actively tracing contacts of a Dutch woman who was a passenger on a cruise ship that became stuck off the coast of Cape Verde. The woman, whose husband was also on the ship, began experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms on April 24.

Her condition worsened during a flight to Johannesburg, where she ultimately died on April 26. The WHO's efforts are focused on identifying and contacting individuals who were on the same flight from Saint Helena to Johannesburg to prevent further spread of the hantavirus.
