ADC Explains Atiku Abubakar's Absence from G100 Summit

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) clarified the absence of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, from the G100 opposition summit held on Monday at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja. ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi stated that the summit was centered on discussions among political parties rather than among presidential candidates, making Atiku's absence inconsequential.

Abdullahi attended the summit with four vice chairmen, ensuring ADC's adequate representation. The summit aimed to explore cooperation among six opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections, as they seek to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Notably absent were other prominent figures, including Peter Obi and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde. Abdullahi asserted that ADC's participation in coalition talks does not hinge on producing a single presidential candidate, emphasizing their confidence in defeating President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

He also identified the fuel subsidy issue as a potential ideological challenge for any coalition.
