ADC Explains Atiku's Absence from G100 Summit in Abuja

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) stated that the absence of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, from the G100 opposition summit held on Monday in Abuja did not hinder the meeting's purpose. Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC's National Publicity Secretary, clarified that the summit was organized for political parties to explore cooperation ahead of the 2027 elections, rather than focusing on individual candidates.

Abdullahi emphasized that the ADC was well-represented at the summit, with himself and four vice chairmen in attendance. The summit took place at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre and included representatives from six opposition parties, discussing strategies to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress in the upcoming elections.

Notably absent were several key opposition figures, including Atiku, Peter Obi, and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde. Abdullahi also mentioned that the ADC believes it can defeat President Bola Tinubu in 2027, regardless of whether a single presidential candidate emerges from the opposition coalition.
