Bala Mohammed Defects to APM Ahead of Elections

Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi State, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Peoples Movement (APM). This strategic move is aimed at positioning himself for the 2023 governorship elections and potentially contesting a Senate seat in 2027.

Sources indicate that the APM, although a smaller party, has a fair presence in the state and has previously secured councilor positions in the local government elections. Auwal Isah, the chairman of APM, described Mohammed's entry as a significant boost for the party's relevance in Bauchi State.

The party has been active in the state, with members participating in recent local elections. Mohammed's spokesperson, Mukhtar Gidado, did not respond to inquiries regarding the reasons for the defection.

The APM is expected to field candidates for the governorship position in the upcoming elections, with Isah confirming that the party has grassroots support across the state.
