EFCC Operatives Visit Uyo Teaching Hospital for Medical Report

On Tuesday, operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) visited the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH) in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to acquire an authentic medical report for a suspect accused of defrauding several microfinance banks, including the University of Uyo Microfinance Bank. The suspect is currently remanded at the Federal High Court in Uyo, presided over by Justice M.

Onyetunu. Dele Oyewale, the EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, stated that the commission had previously sent two letters to the hospital management on March 11, 2026, and April 20, 2026, but received no response.

Consequently, the EFCC operatives visited the hospital to inquire about the status of their request. During the visit, the Chief Medical Director reportedly directed that the hospital gates be shut, which hindered the operatives' exit.

The police in Akwa Ibom State advised the CMD to open the gates to allow the operatives to leave peacefully.
