Retired Police Officer Advocates for Engagement in Security

Dr. Sybil Olufunmilayo Akinfenwa, a retired Commissioner of Police, emphasizes the importance of engaging and valuing retired police officers in addressing Nigeria's security challenges.

She served in various capacities within the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for three decades, retiring on October 5, 2022. Following her retirement, she joined Citi University as a senior lecturer in the Department of Criminology and Security Studies.

Akinfenwa's extensive experience includes leading several police divisions and managing critical investigative operations. She holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Ibadan, an MSc in Personal Social Psychology, and a PhD in Industrial Organizational Psychology.

In her reflections, she highlights the evolution of policing in Nigeria and the need for community engagement to enhance public trust and operational effectiveness within the police force.
